The smallest member of Spyderco’s popular Value Folder series, the Ambitious is an ultra-compact cutting tool that cuts with big-knife authority. In its lightweight configuration, it trades the G-10 scales of the original for injection-molded fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN) with a high-traction Bi-Directional Texture pattern. Taking that evolution one step further, the Ambitious Lightweight Black Blade cloaks the knife’s full-flat-ground 8Cr13MoV stainless steel blade in a non-reflective black oxide coating. Consistent with that theme, the handle’s full skeletonized stainless steel liners, four-position pocket clip, and other hardware also sport stealthy black coatings. Available in a choice of either PlainEdge or fully serrated SpyderEdge, both configurations feature a sturdy LinerLock mechanism to lock the blade securely open during use.
